12 years ago (1 September 2012), Green Day played Rock am See in Konstanz, Germany.

"Standing in the rain was worth it as we heard the first chords of Welcome to Paradise. The crowd came alive. For the first time we heard the furious Let Yourself Go from the upcoming ¡Uno! and people stared bewilderedly at us for knowing the words. Oh Love had been released as a single at this point, though, and the sold-out crowd of 25,000 sang along, ‘far away, far away, waste away tonight,’ as one united voice. Walls of death formed and crashed together in She and American Idiot. ‘Danke schöne!’ Billie Joe yelled, over and over. As 99 Revolutions closed, the crowd clapped and wailed goodbye, then ‘one more time!’ The song revved back up again and they were playing an extra chorus. We clapped again. I prepared myself for their set being over again, but Billie Joe did not want to leave Konstanz: ‘one more time!’ he roared and they played the chorus again. Then it really was over. He was playing Good Riddance. I almost missed him running back on stage and mooning the crowd." — My recap

Flogging Molly also dedicated If I Ever Leave This World Alive to Billie that night. Great band, nice gesture. The arse was so random. They hadn't been off stage long, so Billie must have got undressed incredibly quickly to ensure as many people as possible saw his arse.

Everybody OK?" The band then resumed where they left off and played a full set.

14 years ago (4 September 2010), Green Day played the last show of the North American 21st Century Breakdown Tour in Mountain View, CA. See photos

"Darkness was falling when Song of the Century echoed through the amphitheatre. This was it. The homecoming and final show of the North American tour. It was filled with fans from the Bay Area to Japan to Australia.
The band ran onstage together. Billie screamed the names of every unfamiliar town we’d sped past on the CalTrain.
‘Home! Home! I am fucking home! It’s been fucking months! But Green Day are back at home! In the fucking Bay Area! However… if you don’t mind, I’m gonna refer to this night as Rodeo, California.’
Mike pointed at my England flag and stuck his tongue out. When he walked out, he beckoned for me to high-five him but security stopped me.
Instead of ‘saving’ a kid in East Jesus Nowhere, Billie pulled up an older lady who ‘saved’ him.
They played Murder City and Letterbomb again. My voice that had just recovered from Phoenix was hoarse already. I was directly in Mike’s line of view and for much of the show he pulled faces and interacted with me. I rocked out with Mike Dirnt and I’m still not over it.
We knew a few of the words to Cigarettes and Valentines now, but it was like seeing it for the first time all over again. After Geek Stink Breath was Coming Clean. Billie announced ‘this next song is about revenge!’ before Going to Pasalacqua. Everyone was jumping to Only of You. It was followed by an explosive performance of Paper Lanterns. That bled into 2000 Light Years Away. They invited fans on stage. The people in front of me were screaming at me to go. My mum was pushing me. I shrugged and said I didn’t want to. By the time I realised that both Mike and Eddie (band security) were beckoning me, it was too late.
In 21 Guns, during that bridge I loved so much, Billie thanked us all for the last 22 years. It was beyond surreal to hear that where it all began in the Bay Area. Then we were thrown back into American Eulogy.
I can see, clear as if I’m still there, Billie spinning around as he played the solo. I can still hear the roar of ‘Bay Area!’ and see the confetti covering us. I can still see the band returning to play Last Night on Earth and feel the tears in my eyes as I looked up at the night sky. The tears were still streaming down my face as we left because it was over."

On this day 7 years ago (8 September 2017), Green Day played the Austin360 Amphitheater in Austin, TX on the Revolution Radio Tour. See photos

“When I listen to audio of Forever Now I can still feel how sore my throat was from singing all night and then singing that even louder. But most of all I can still feel my lungs about to burst as I screamed ‘I AIN’T GONNA STAND IN LINE NO MORE!’ and the barrier shaking as I jumped until I couldn’t breathe. Then throwing up both of my arms to the pyros at the end.” — Me. After the show, the security guard in front of us tapped me on the arm and said he'd "never seen anyone so into a show" and it actually made him emotional, so he wanted me to have his setlist. First time I ever got a Green Day setlist.

When the band were soundchecking in Albuquerque, Billie spoke through the mic to the people queuing outside. I don't remember exactly what he said. It was something along the lines of "hello to you crazy people lining up to see us." I think he might have mentioned the tour coming to an end too. I got heat exhaustion for the first time in that queue. The amphitheatre is out in the desert and the only shade was by the portaloos, so my friend and I sat there. For the future reference of anyone reading this thread, portaloo "shade" is not shade. The sunlight coming through the plastic will just bake you alive.

12 SEPTEMBER

On this day 5 years ago (12 September 2019), Green Day played Father of All on Jimmy Kimmel Live. They also did the "Jimmy Kimmel's mean tweets" thing. Theirs was "why does Tré Cool from Green Day look like an emo version of Ted Cruz?" Billie said, "well, Mike looks like Putin" and he took his sunglasses off to prove it. Personally, I think that is an unacceptable thing to say. I mean, it's not true! Tré actually looks like David Cameron.

24 years ago (17 September 2000), Green Day played a Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street in London, England for 500 fans.

"The American post-punk trio, playing a fan-only show at the Virgin Megastore on London‘s Oxford Street, their second date in the capital in three days, also took aim at Metallica, Napster and Blink 182 during the hour-long performance. They also finished their set by trashing their equipment and an overhead lighting rig and daubing spray paint on the shop’s walls. The Slipknot jibes came twice during a set that saw Green Day mix new material with older tracks and cover versions, including songs by NOFX, Operation Ivy and The Undertones. Three songs in someone threw a clown mask onto the stage, which singer Billie Joe Armstrong put on while mockingly growling: 'We’re Slipknot, fuck you.' He threw it back and sneered: 'Oh scary, you’ve got masks assholes. Why don’t you try writing a good fucking song for a change.' Towards the end of the show, the frontman introduced a song saying, 'Dedicate this song to the person you hate most in the world. Think about killing the bastard. Take Slipknot, for instance.' Earlier, he had invited the audience to shout out dedications. When someone called out Napster, he said: 'Whatever you do, don’t download Metallica. It makes them really, really angry. But what have they got to be angry about? You know what I’m saying?' And his suggestion that Green Day were about to cover a Blink-182 track brought cries of derision from the 500 fans. Green Day ended the show with a rousing version of Basket Case before spraying both the band’s name and ‘Goodnight’ on the store’s walls while destroying their kit. The group remained for a time after the midnight show to sign copies of their new single Minority."NME

"Sept. 21, 1991. Benefit for the Slingshot anarchist newspaper. Surely one of the greatest Cloyne shows ever. Cops broke up the show, as was too common back in the day. People climbing out the windows of the dining room (where the bands were playing) to get away. Green Day didn't get to finish their set."Anthony Lew

"We had standing tickets so were very near to the front throughout the whole night. The support band, Riverdales, were very good and finished with a cover of the Ramones song Blitzkrieg Bop in which Billie Joe came out to sing. Green Day started off with Welcome to Paradise and from that point on the mosh pit went mental! Remember, this was my first standing gig, but I did not feel threatened at all, as Billie Joe kept telling the crowd to pick people up. I think this was the last tour when Tre Cool picked up the guitar to play All By Myself and Dominated Love Slave. Considering Kerplunk was the album before Dookie, it was strange seeing so many blank faces when they played songs from this album. I don't really remember much of the set (it was mostly from Dookie) but we were treated to hear three songs from their next album, Insomniac (Geek Stink Breath, Stuck With Me, Jaded). For their encore Billie Joe switched from his trademark guitar, Blue, to a nice Cherry Red Gibson SG which, after the final song, Jaded, he threw into the air to smash the damn thing to pieces. Tre also wrecked his drums and a lucky kid got to take the bass drum home and someone else got half a guitar. All in all, it was a brilliant night, my first experience of a a proper mosh pit and my first taste of Green Day live! If only they could have stayed the way they were in '95. On the coach home I was accused as being a know-it-all by a complete stranger who had asked what Green Day's drummer was called, so I told them and then received the insult..."fan experience

"September 25th, 1994 I saw Green Day play at The Edge in Orlando, Florida. It was not only my first punk rock show, it was the first concert I had ever been to period. I've mentioned and thought about that show and how it changed my life every single night on this [Revolution Radio] tour. I've held onto the ticket stub from that show ever since and today, last day of the tour I finally worked up the nerve to ask the band to autograph it. People say 'never meet your heroes' as oftentimes they can disappoint, but I'm so happy to say that hasn't been the case here."Laura Jane Grace, frontwoman of Against Me!
