A lot has happened in Green Day land since GDA ran into some technical issues, so let's start GDA's coverage of the new era with a roundup of all the news on Saviors so far.
19 October, 2023: Green Day play a surprise club show in Las Vegas before When We Were Young festival
Two days before playing to the crowd 85,000 at the When We Were Young festival, Green Day surprised lucky fans with a secret show at the 800-capacity Fremont Country Club. They played many deep cuts, including all of Dookie, One of My Lies, Oh Love, Stuart and the Ave., Disappearing Boy, Graffitia, Warning and Homecoming. Check out the full setlist here.
Everyone who attended the show received a flyer featuring the lyrics to The American Dream Is Killing Me. Some people even got a vinyl featuring the track and Look Ma, No Brains! The vinyl was also being given away to fans who were lucky enough to spot representatives of the band dressed as zombies on the Vegas strip.
20 October, 2023: US tour with Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Lindas announced
News spread of more flyers from the secret show in Vegas announcing another co-headlining stadium tour with 27 dates throughout the US. The tour will celebrate Dookie's 30th and American Idiot's 20th anniversary. See the list of dates on Green Day's website.
22 October, 2023: Look Ma, No Brains! played live for the first time at When We Were Young festival
On the second night of the festival, fans were treated to the live debut of Look Ma, No Brains! Watch a video of the performance here.
24 October, 2023: European stadium tour announced and music video for The American Dream Is Killing Me released
After asking fans in LA to apply to be involved in something secret, the video for the lead single was released.
A European stadium tour with 17 dates was also announced. The UK shows will be opened by Maid of Ace and Nothing But Thieves, whilst others will feature various bands including The Interrupters, The Hives and Donots. The full list of dates can also be found on Green Day's website.
26 October: Green Day play a set for Amazon Music Live
Green Day played a 14-song set for Amazon Music Live which, fortunately for us, was professionally recorded!
31 October, 2023: Mike interviewed on the Coolest Conversation
Mike was interviewed by "Mighty Manfred" for the Coolest Conversation on Little Steven's Underground Garage. You can listen on Spotify.
2 November, 2023: Look Ma, No Brains! video released
A simple video of the band playing the song (well, it has got some ECT going on as well) was released for the second single.
4 November, 2023: Secret show at Bataclan in Paris
At the first of three scheduled European secret shows, Green Day played the 1,500-capacity Bataclan in Paris, which Billie Joe said they had always wanted to play. Fans from Paris and around the world heard several deep cuts including Geek Stink Breath and Christie Road. See the full setlist here.
7 November, 2023: Secret show at Magazzini General in Milan
Another secret show! Fans at this one heard Whatsername as well as 1981, The American Dream is Killing Me, and Look Ma, No Brains! See the full setlist here.
9 November, 2023: Free show played at pub in Covent Garden
The night before Green Day were scheduled to play the Electric Ballroom in Camden, they hinted at yet another secret show at a pub somewhere in London. Eagle-eyed fans worked out that it was The Marquis in Covent Garden. 50 people were let in before the pub was packed and others had to settle for listening outside. The band played an acoustic set that included Walking Contradiction for the first time since 2001. The set was live streamed and can now be watched on YouTube.
10 November, 2023: Electric Ballroom show cancelled
The 1,500 fans going to the last of the three scheduled shows were lucky enough to win tickets in a lottery. Unfortunately, it was cancelled four minutes before doors due to illness.
19 November, 2023: Green Day play at the 110th Grey Cup in Canada
A four-song set was played for 24,000 football fans at the 110th Grey Cup in Hamilton, Ontario.
20 November, 2023: Interview on 93.5 Today Radio
A fan on the Green Day Community forum, DearlyBeloved87, recorded a snippet of this radio interview.
22 November, 2023: Interview on 102.1 The Edge Radio
We got a nice video interview from this radio station.
30 November, 2023: Green Day appear on the cover of Kerrang!
As always when there's a new album coming, Kerrang interviewed Green Day for their cover story. They talked about recording with Rob Cavallo, a burlesque show in Brixton and how Tré wore the same clothes every day while recording Saviors. 4 December, 2023: Green Day appear on the cover of Alternative Press winter 2023 issue
Alternative Press magazine interviewed Green Day for their winter 2023 issue. It can only be read in print, but there's a summary on the Alternative Press website, where you can also buy the magazine.
6 December, 2023: Japanese bonus track discovered and Billie Joe appears on Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast
Fans discovered through Amazon Japan that the Japanese version of Saviors will have a unique bonus track, Fever. The last time any version of an album included an unheard bonus track was in the 21st Century Breakdown era.
On the Armchair Expert podcast, Billie Joe discussed family, young love, songwriting and more. You can listen on the Armchair Expert website.

26 December, 2023: Album release show in NYC announced
A show at the 1,200-capacity Irving Plaza was announced for 18 January, 2024 – just two days away now! Sirius XM currently have a station playing only Green Day, and 120 tickets were given away on it. We don't know who has the rest yet. It could be the press or they could go on sale soon.
31 December, 2023: Green Day live on Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve airs and The Coverups play a new year show
A five-song set – recorded on 1 December in LA for Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve – aired to celebrate the new year. It was the live debut of Dilemma.
The Coverups, a cover band including Billie Joe and Jason White, also played a show at the 600-capacity El Rey Theater in LA to celebrate the new year. Fans could donate to Project Chimps for a VIP experience to meet the band. Corey Feldman (who starred in Gremlins among many other movies) and Chris Robinson (The Black Crowes) were there and got on stage. See the setlist here.
5 January, 2024: One Eyed Bastard released and a limited number of signed CDs sold
We got another new song from Saviors, One Eyed Bastard.
A limited number of signed Saviors CDs were also sold online. They sold out in minutes.
10 January, 2024: Private charity show in Las Vegas

Green Day played an 18-song set at The Theater at Virgin Hotels for donors to Music Will, a charity offering free music tuition and instruments to kids in the US.
11 January, 2024: Vulture interview with Billie Joe
In an interview with Vulture magazine, Billie Joe discussed recording in London, Tim Yohannon, My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade and his Longshot project even got a mention. Read the full interview on the Vulture website.
12 January, 2024: Rolling Stone speaks to Mike and Oakland Coffee rebrands as Punk Bunny Coffee
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Mike discusses his early life, the pressure after 21st Century Breakdown, why Green Day waited to write about Trump and much more.
"The thing that anchors us is that we come from the same place. We had nothing ’til this band. And we weren’t going to blow it. Even if we were playing clubs the rest of our lives, this is ours. It’s sacred to us."

It was also announced that Oakland Coffee, the band's coffee company, will be rebranding as Punk Bunny Coffee. Their new tagline is "High-quality coffee, familiar delicious blends, and epic surprises from your favorite Bunny and God's favorite band."
13 January, 2024: Interview in Augsburger Allgemeine and Green Day show up at Saviors listening party in Burbank
The German newspaper Augsburger Allgemeine interviewed the band about the new album, activism, addiction and more. The interview is in German on the Augsburger Allgemeine website, and there's an English translation on the Green Day Community forum.
Saviors listening parties were also held all over the world, but fans in Burbank got an extra surprise – the band actually showed up!
At all the listening parties, goodies were offered to attendees including t-shirts, lyric books, wristbands, posters, stickers and pin badges.
15 January, 2024: Billie Joe on WTF With Mark Maron and interview with LA Times
Yesterday, Billie Joe appeared on a podcast with comedian Mark Maron. They discussed the clothes from the American Idiot era, Billie Joe's upbringing and his addiction issues, along with many other things. The podcast can be found on Spotify.
The LA Times also released an interview with Billie Joe, in which they discuss the promotion of Father of All, the lack of Gen X figures in politics, details about the new songs and more.
