Green Day's Revolution Radio Tour is now complete. Billie Joe reflected on 2017 and this era of the band on Instagram:

Since it began in September 2016, Green Day have played seven tour legs all over the world, covering North America, Europe, Australia/New Zealand and most recently, South America. Over 100 dates included some amazing shows that were rated as some of the top concerts of the year.

Many local publications in different areas shared rave reviews of Green Day's tour stops:

  • Tampa Bay, FL:

How it's taken me more than 20 years to finally see Green Day, I couldn't possibly tell you. But I was not expecting anything close to the epic, career-spanning spectacle of a show they delivered.

    — Jay Cridlin, Tampa Bay Times

  • Cleveland, OH:

I personally have never seen a bad Green Day show, and I’ve seen a LOT of them... The fellas combine energy, catchy songs and top-notch musicianship at a level most artists can only dream of achieving.

    — Chuck Yarborough, Cleveland.com

  • Atlanta, GA:

Playing Atlanta for the first time since 2010, the trio of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool slashed through 2 ½-hours of kinetic rock splashed with a still-relevant punky attitude and more melodies than might have been expected.

    — Melissa Ruggieri, Atlanta Journal-Constitution

  • Pittsburgh, PA:

Still proudly waving the punk-rock banner, the Bay Area band consistently puts on as entertaining a show as anybody... Armstrong refreshingly encouraged fans to focus on the positive, not divisive politics, and insisted they take a break from snapping selfies or shaky-handed concert videos to truly watch the show.

    — Scott Tady, Beaver County Times

  • Omaha, NE:
Every other touring band should get tickets to see Green Day, watch the show and take notes. That's how you do a rock show. It can be tough to get the energy going in a cavernous arena,
but frontman Billie Joe Armstrong whipped the place up with his first smoking guitar chords.
— Kevin Coffey, Omaha World-Herald

I went to that Omaha show back in August, as did J'net, who some readers may know from Green Day Community or her various event recaps on our site. The show itself did not disappoint whatsoever, but the interview J'net did with the band for GDA prior to the show was even cooler. Check it out here.

Lastly, Billboard.com presented some ridiculous statistics about the business performance of the Revolution Radio Tour. The most recent leg that included dates all over South America grossed $6.2 million and boasted 90,000 individual ticket sales. As for the entire 14-month tour:

The tour included over 100 headlining dates at both indoor and outdoor venues, along with a host of festival appearances primarily in Europe this past summer. About 65% of the shows worldwide were reported to Billboard Boxscore by promoters and venues, so based on show averages from reported concerts, the estimated overall gross for the tour falls in the $70 million range from about 1.2 million sold tickets.

Wow. What a great couple of years for Green Day, right?
