October Interview Round-Up: Billie Joe
By Jack /Oct. 30, 2016 / Comments
The month of October was a press whirlwind for Green Day! The band did interviews galore, both together and separately. We thought we'd post a couple of individual round-ups to keep things organized and get lots of interviews to you!
Billie Joe has received probably the most press attention this month due to both the release of Revolution Radio and the release of 'Ordinary World,' the new movie he starred in.
Billie Joe has received probably the most press attention this month due to both the release of Revolution Radio and the release of 'Ordinary World,' the new movie he starred in.
- Nylon magazine caught up with Billie Joe to ask him about Green Day's return and his experiences on the set of 'Ordinary World.'
- Billie Joe also appeared on CBS New York's '22 Minutes with Brigitte Quinn' during the band's time in the Big Apple. He speaks about jamming with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr ("I still can't believe it..."), the different meanings behind "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and also the classic covers medley that Green Day performs live.
- His next stop was with Rachael Ray, appearing as a guest on her TV talk show. In the short clip below, Billie Joe tells Rachael he was scared he'd "ruin" 'Ordinary World' when he was originally cast in it. He also gives some great exposure to Project Chimps, the cause both he and Adrienne have supported for years.
- Billie Joe did a slightly longer print interview with the New York Times. One of the most interesting parts is when he talks about the relation between what his sons, Joey and Jakob, are doing musically right now versus what Green Day were doing as teenagers. Check it out!
- Most recently, Billie Joe did a short interview for Warner Music Japan. He remembers an interesting bowling tradition that Green Day have and how it relates to a certain Japanese live release. Thanks to desertrose for posting this interview on our forum.
