Audio engineers Chris Dugan and Andrew Scheps have taken to Facebook to announce their excitement for the upcoming Green Day single "BANG BANG." The two have also come forward with their individual involvements with the new track.
Recording engineer Chris Dugan has announced that he is responsible for having recorded the song. This comes as no surprise as Chris has been the band's primary engineer for every album since The Foxboro Hot Tubs' Stop Drop and Roll in 2007, as well as Billie Joe + Norah's Foreverly album. Chris has mentioned recently on a podcast that he was working with Green Day and we also see him present at the mixing board and ProTools rig in a studio video by Billie Joe.
Mixing engineer Andrew Scheps also posted on Facebook to let the world know that he has mixed the song. Scheps is a very popular engineer in the music world and has worked with Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, AFI, Adele, Beyoncé, and many more. He has won a few Grammy Awards, most notably for his work on Stadium Arcadium from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Adele's 21. This wouldn't be the first involvement Scheps has had with Green Day, however. In 1998, he mixed the Godzilla remix of "Brain Stew" for the Godzilla movie soundtrack.
We don't know yet if Scheps mixed the entire new album but if he did, it would be a bit of a change in direction from Green Day. Since Nimrod, the band has pegged Chris Lorge Alge to mix their albums (with the exception of Warning). However, we're fairly confident Chris Dugan recorded it. It is not yet known or even speculated on who produced the song or album.
