The event is held annually in a handful of cities across the US to raise both awareness about cystic fibrosis and funding for a cure. Green Day's members have long been involved with cystic fibrosis fundraising, and are listed as "Celebrity Ambassadors" on the event's website.
Tré Cool chatted with attendees, watched a band of young teenagers play their rendition of "Brain Stew," and even sat in on a song for the band Flashback Heart Attack, something he has done before. Flashback Heart Attack, an eighties cover band, auctioned off a private performance that was bought by Billie Joe.
Last year, a "Billie Joe Experience" was auctioned off, allowing one lucky bidder to spend some time with Billie Joe. This year, Billie Joe donated a signed guitar, and Tré donated an experience to Pipeline To A Cure, who proceeded to butcher the spelling of his name. Oh well, it's the fundraising that counts!
Thanks to @GDLot for some of this info.
