Green Day will be producing a new documentary that focuses on the early east bay punk scene that they came out of. The documentary, "East Bay", will be directed by Corbett Redford, himself a musician and filmmaker from the bay area, also working on the Green Day early days documentary reported last year.

An official site has been launched at EastBayPunk.com, which states the film is,
the story of how the East Bay’s unique and thoughtful style of punk rock arose, sending out ripples from the incredibly diverse community of misfits that banded together around Berkeley’s 924 Gilman. Today, the world at large knows about some of the bands who emerged from this scene like Green Day, Rancid & AFI, but their success is just the tip of the iceberg; the roots of this inspiring story go deep into the underground.

The documentary will include "150 interviews, footage from hundreds of live shows, and thousands of archival photos and flyers," to tell the story.

They are still looking for archive footage, photos, and posters from that era (1980-1994). For a full list of bands they're looking for more info on visit the official site.
