[pic=Billie Joe and 'Pete' at Woodstock 94]030614_greenday_woodstock_pete.jpg[/pic]MyRareGuitars.com has put together a list of the top famous guitar amps (and the songs that made them famous). Billie Joe's "Pete" amp, along with his guitar Blue and Green Day's "Welcome to Paradise," have made the list.

The creator of the list posted his top 10 list in January of 2012 but has come back with his 11-20 picks. Billie Joe's modified Marshall 100W Super Lead Plexi amp, which he has named "Pete," makes the list at number 18. Along with Billie Joe's playing style and guitar Blue, the writer specifically comments on the band's track "Welcome to Paradise."

Not only is Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day a killer songwriter and performer, his guitar tone is super fat and chunky. Wielding his bastard green Fernandez Stratocaster copy and a modified Marshall Plexi Super Lead 100-watt amp head (with the name duct-taped out), Billie Joe has perfected that tight right-hand rhythm and is so locked in with Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt. They create a modern power trio that is highly underrated IMHO. Check out the opening riff to “Welcome to Paradise” and you realize right then and there – this is the fundamental core sound of modern alternative rock as it stands today.
