Gibson teams up with Billie Joe on a new ES-137 guitar
By Matt /Jan. 24, 2014 / Comments
This week at NAMM 2014, Gibson showed off a modified version of their classic ES-137 model guitar. With the help of Billie Joe, Gibson retrofitted the guitar with Memphis P90 pick-ups, two volume nobs, and a rotary pick-up selector.
The gentlemen in the video below talks a bit about the guitar and mentions that it will be available for purchase "in about two weeks." He did not mention whether or not it is a new Billie Joe signature model, just that he helped create it. When the guitar releases to the public, we will know more about it.
Back in late 2012, Gibson made a one-off model specifically for Billie Joe that was featured in Green Day's Guitar World article, titled "Green Day Make the Biggest Move of their Career." View the scans of that article and photo shoot in our Articles section. That guitar was also mentioned in Green Day's "Rig Rundown" on Premiere Guitar and featured in the "Kill the DJ" music video.
