Phil Everly, half of the Everly Brothers duo, died yesterday at the age of 74. Billie Joe posted on Twitter and Instagram about his death.

"All I can say is thank you. You will be missed Phil. Foreverly"
Phil was quoted in this New York Times article back in November about Billie Joe and Norah Jones "Foreverly" release saying,
“They did a very good job, and they blend very well.” And he noted that “Foreverly” was as unexpected as “Songs Our Daddy Taught Us” had been.
“The formula today is to just keep doing what you’ve been doing,” he said. “I have to respect them for not doing that.”
"Foreverly" was mentioned in today's New York Times article about Phil's death, with a quote from Billie Joe ending the article:
In 2013, younger musicians released two full-length albums of Everly Brothers songs: “What the Brothers Sang” by Dawn McCarthy and Bonnie Prince Billy (the indie rocker Will Oldham), and “Foreverly” by Norah Jones and Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, a remake of every song — some traditional, some traditional-styled — on the 1958 Everlys album “Songs Our Daddy Taught Us.”
The Everly Brothers are “such a mainstay,” Mr. Armstrong said in November. “You either consciously grew up with them, or you subconsciously grew up with the Everly Brothers.”
The Everly Brothers go way back far as I can remember hearing music. Those harmonies live on forever. We're gonna miss you Phil. Gratitude.
