Green Day has been nominated for 8 MTV Music Video Awards for the American Idiot and Boulevard of Broken Dreams videos. Green Day has also been scheduled to play for the 2005 VMA's which air August 28th on (obviously) MTV. Following are the categories they were nominated in:

Best Direction in a Video
Best Cinematography in a Video
Best Editing in a Video,



"American Idiot,"
Best Video Game Soundtrack (EA's "Madden 2005")
Best Art Direction in a Video.

Here's an interview with Billie Joe after he found out about the 8 nominations.

"This whole thing has just been surreal and overwhelming. It's an amazing feeling when you get recognized for one thing, but when you get nominated eight times over, it goes to a whole new level," he laughed. "When we first started this band, we didn't even expect to make videos, and now we're getting nominated for videos. Words can't describe it, but we're going to come and kick ass and have a good time."
