[pic=Billie Joe signing the guitar at the Bowery Electric]012813_rsz_detail.jpg[/pic]Today, instead of the usual featured eBay item, we wanted to give you guys an opportunity to bid on an awesome Green Day-related item, and support a good cause at the same time. A GDA visitor and friend of Jesse Malin has helped list a Guild acoustic guitar that was signed by Billie Joe in September.
The guitar was one of Jesse Malin's personal instruments, a Guild D50 Standard. The guitars go for about $1,900 alone! This one is signed by Billie Joe (see photo). On September 12, Billie Joe and Jason White played an impromptu acoustic show at the Bowery Electric in New York City. Jesse Malin also performed that night, and was in attendance for Billie and Jason's set. Afterward, Billie Joe signed Jesse's guitar for our friend, which you can now bid on.
All proceeds from the auction, sponsored by CharityBuzz, will go to Strummerville (The Joe Strummer Foundation for New Music). As many of you know, Joe Strummer was the frontman for The Clash. Here's Strummerville's mission statement:
[quoteFull]Set up by the friends and family of Joe Strummer in the year after his death, we seek to reflect Joe’s unique contribution to the music world by offering support, resources and performance opportunities to artists who would not normally have access to them.[/quoteFull]
We hope some of you can bid on this item, and support a great cause!
