Song of the Week: "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"
By Aska /Sep. 20, 2011 / Comments
This week's Song of the Week is the international super-hit Boulevard of Broken Dreams, released in 2004 on Green Day's equally super American Idiot. Boulevard of Broken Dreams was the second single released off American Idiot, and helped launch American Idiot and Green Day back into the forefront of mainstream music. The song charted extremely well in many countries, even making number 1 in a number of Billboard charts including the Pop 100 and the Hot Modern Rock Tracks, and won the 2006 Grammy for 'Record of the Year'.
The music video for Boulevard of Broken Dreams, directed by Sam Bayer, was also a massive success, picking up 6 MTV Video Music Awards including Video of the Year. Like the song, the video segues in from the end of the song Holiday, in one continuous story, so this week's video is the entire Holiday/Boulevard of Broken Dreams video clip.
