The town of 34,000 is known because it shares a name with one of Green Day's most popular songs, which was released in 1994, and it's music video credited with helping Green Day's huge success with [turl=http://www.greendayauthority.com/music/dookie/]Dookie[/turl].
Billie Joe wrote about the title of the song back in February on Twitter:
The band had written the song before the tour, but hadn't given it a name. Since they debuted it in Longview, WA, the name stuck.
