[newsImage]120210_cavallo.jpg[/newsImage]In yesterday's news about the American Idiot Musical album [turl=http://www.greendayauthority.com/news/2017/]being nominated[/turl] for 'Best Musical Show Album', we forgot to point out that Rob Cavallo (Green Day's producer for most albums since Dookie) was also nominated for the "Producer of the Year" Grammy.
Even though Rob didn't work with the band on 21st Century Breakdown (which was produced by Butch Vig), Rob did work with them on When It's Time - which was included in the Musical cast album (both the cast version and a Green Day version with Billie singing).
The song was originally recorded for American Idiot, thought they decided not to use it. We first heard the song during the March 2009 [turl=http://www.greendayauthority.com/news/2080/]screening of the documentary[/turl] Heart Like a Hand Grenade, which shows Billie Joe in studio with Rob recording the song. That documentary is rumored to be coming out next year, but no official release date has been set.
Grammys.com lists "When It's Time" as one of songs for Rob's nomination. He was also nominated for songs from Paramore, Adam Lambert, and Meat Loaf.
As mentioned yesterday, the Grammys will be held February 13 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and will be aired on CBS.
Thanks to Jordan for the news.
