Sawng Contest, 16th Anniversary of Dookie
Feb. 1, 2010 / Comments
We're doing a project called "[turl=http://www.greendayauthority.com/contests/]Record a Sawng[/turl]" where people send in each instrument for a song ("Minority" in this case) and we put them up for popular vote then pick take entries for the next instrument. Over the weekend you guys voted for the acoustic guitar entries and Dan was chosen to the part. This week we're taking recordings for electric guitar. All the details, questions and form to submit your entries can be found [turl=http://www.greendayauthority.com/contests/]on the contest page[/turl]. We posted up the song as it stands right now so you can listen to what we have on that page.
[newsImage]020110_dookie.jpg[/newsImage]Today marks the 16th anniversary of Dookie's release. This was Green Day's first major release, and brought them forward to the mainstream of the world and into millions of lives. Much of their work has always been compared to it's success, and many fans still hold onto Dookie as their favorite album. It definitely has a message in it that so many people can connect to, which no doubt played a huge part in it's success. Happy Birthday, Dookie.
