Green Day invited to Chinese 'Show of Peace' concert
Dec. 21, 2009 / Comments
Green Day has been invited to a 'Show of Peace' concert to take place in China April 17th. The concert is a "campaign designed to not only promote peace with each other but to promote peace with our planet". It lands on the 30th anniversary of the cultural exchange agreement between China and the US.
My understanding of this article from Billboard.com is that the band has only been invited to perform, not yet agreed or confirmed. The article says "the concert's official web site lists nearly five dozen target artists to be invited, including Prince, Green Day, Beyonce, Coldplay, Black Eyed Peas, Kenny Chesney, Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake and many others."
When we hear more about it, we'll let you guys know. The event is expected to be attended by 100,000 and take place at the Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing and will be broadcast globally.
