Tattoo artist and cosmetics personality Kat Von D, best known for her TV series LA Ink, last week revealed a new eyeliner inspired by 'long time friend' Billie Joe Armstrong. The limited-edition eye pencil, branded 'Basket Case' in Dookie style writing, will be released in January 2018.
Prior to the announcement, the star had revealed a few pictures of work for the new project on her 'Kat Von D Beauty' Instagram story. Though it's wasn't clear exactly what the nature of the project would be, or the extent of Billie's involvement in it, the photos gave a clear hint that it had something to do with Green Day. The first of the two pictures showed the eyeliner itself, while the second image showed Billie's unmistakable silhouette sitting side-on in a make-up chair.
This isn't the first time that Kat Von D and Billie have crossed paths - the animal-loving star has previously released cosmetics to raise money for Project Chimps, a charity of which Billie and his wife are founding board members. In keeping with this ethos, the new 'Basket Case' eyeliner will be vegan.
The product doesn't yet feature on Kat Von D's website, and there is currently no indication of a retail price, but we'll make sure to keep you up to date when this information becomes available.
