Rolling Stone columnist Andy Greene chats with Billie Joe about the band's incredible gig at the House of Blues, Sweet Children, the induction ceremony, the future of the band, and so much more.
In the interview, there are a lot great quotes and good information from Billie Joe that provide some cool insight into the weekend and how the band was feeling. Check out a few of the highlights below. The full article can be read on Rolling Stone's website here.
While taking about the Sweet Children show, Billie Joe mentions how bringing back John Kiffmeyer came about:
Later on in the interview, Greene asks Billie Joe about the future of the band what they have up their sleeves for the next album:
There's definitely a great spirit going on. We've always been pretty charged up. Before we found any of this out, I had already written a few songs and everybody was really excited by them. And then we heard about the Hall of Fame, and we were just blown away. Yeah, I mean, we're going to take our time. We're not going to try and pull off some, like, victory lap over this because I definitely want the music to come from a real place and be inspired, not just because we got honored or anything like that, but because we're honoring music. We want to work on them, and we want to make a great album.
I've got, like, four or five songs right now. I'm gonna take it really slow. I'm just gonna make sure every moment is inspired and that we have something that's really special to us. And right now with the songs that we have, it's going in the right direction.
Greene then asks him if we can expect a new album next year and Billie Joe responds with "I can't say."

It seems we can't expect a new album from the band any time soon. However, it's great to hear they are committed to taking their time with it and ensuring they're happy with the results. I mean, look at the time they took leading up to American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown. Given how great those two albums are, I think the band does well with a lot of time. We are certainly entering the next chapter in Green Day's book and I'm excited to see where it goes.

Well, John and I have been in contact here and there through the years. One day we just went out to breakfast and I threw out the idea about doing a show. He was immediately into it, which was surprising because he said to me, "You realize I haven't picked up a pair of drum sticks since 1997, right?" And I said, "You know, it doesn't even matter. Let's just go up and have a good time. I think it would just make a lot of fans super happy."
