In the wake of the premiere of Green Day's ¡Cuatro! documentary, another Green Day documentary, Broadway Idiot, has snuck up on us. Broadway Idiot tells the story of how Billie Joe got involved in turning American Idiot into a Broadway musical.
[quotefull]Broadway Idiot follows Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong from a punk rock concert at Madison Square Garden to the opening of his musical American Idiot on Broadway - only ten blocks away, but worlds apart. From behind the curtain, share in the crazy journey of turning the mega-hit album into a punk rock musical - and ultimately see how the world of theater transformed Billie Joe.[/quotefull]
Broadway Idiot will premiere at the South By South West Music and Film Festival in Austin, Texas on March 15th. You can check out a sneak-peek of the documentary in the trailer below:
Over the past few years, we've heard whispers about Broadway Idiot, and it's exciting that the documentary will finally see the light of day in March. At the time of this posting, it is unknown whether or not a DVD version of the documentary will be released at any time in the future. But, if I had to take a guess, I would say that there will (most likely) be one eventually.
