3 years ago today Green Day’s 12th studio album “Revolution Radio” was officially unleashed upon the world. The album saw the band return to its roots, with a dozen powerful tunes showcasing a more mature side of the band while still encasing the punk attitude that they are known for. As Rolling Stone stated “'Revolution Radio’ is vibrant punk rock, uncluttered by outsize grandiosity or conceptual overthink. It sets the tone with its Clash-like police-siren guitar, Tré Cool's combustible drum tumult and Billie Joe Armstrong snarling about cherry bombs and gasoline as if he's looking around his garage for stuff that might set the world on fire". As much as the album was a reflection of the state of the world in 2016 with songs such as the title track "Revolution Radio" and "Troubled Times", it was also an album that saw self-reflection in songs like “Somewhere Now” and “Outlaws”. The general consensus from fans and critics alike was that the album was a hit.

As exciting as it was to have finally have new music from Green Day, perhaps the most thrilling part of the new album to fans worldwide was the exciting era it brought with it. Green Day fans were along for the ride from the first hints something was coming in June 2017, right until the final show of the RevRad Tour, and we would be lying if we said it wasn’t an exciting era.

The era saw a string of successful sold-out club shows across the USA and a massive multi-leg worldwide tour that saw a reenergized band living up to the title of 'best live band in the world'. It saw an engagement at a signing, the birth of the “Green Day Puppets”, an awkward first attempt at Facebook live, the discovery of Instagram live, some of the best lyric videos we could ask for, a fabulous David Hasselhoff impression on on Good Morning America, an appearance on the AMAs, singing ‘no Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA’, and how can we forget that “Revolution Radio” plane.

The beginning of each era brings the fans back together like we are all attending a Green Day family reunion. The “Revolution Radio” Era was no exception, it brought old fans back together and welcomed new fans into the family.
