      SPIN MAG;LIMITED EDITION 1039;GD STORE;INTERPUNK
POSTED BY COURTNEY

There's a new article in this month's issue of Spin Magazine. Click here to view it. Thank you Michelle Lawlor for scanning that and sending it in to GDA. Also, did anyone else know that 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy hours had limited editon packs? So I'm at Best Buy today, looking at the Green Day CDS, and there's a CD pack with the remastered 1039, with a free T-Shirt and a sticker set! Out of curosity, I went to the Green Day store on the official site, and sure enough, there was another pack there as well. Only the pack they have (shown to the right) has a different t-shirt design and it comes with buttons instead of stickers! Geez, am I the last to know? Also check out the Green Day store for some cool new merchandise as well. Interpunk is apparently also expecting 1000 Hours to be released on CD as well as 7" on April 6, 2004. They also have the t-shirt pack that I got, but do not show a picture.

      NOT MUCH TO REPORT
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Hey everyone. I've been MIA lately because of some computer troubles, so I finally took out 5 hours to fix my computer, not to mention about $50, and remove 12 viruses and like 5000 spyware programs. Fun, huh? I just wanted to get on and let everyone know that I changed the damn calendar on the side. And didja know that kid that played Tommy on 3rd Rock From the Sun has a birthday on the same day as Billie Joe?! Yeah, I didn't really care either. But if you want to see who else (that is famous, of course) has a birthday in February click here to go to Yahoo. And last but not least, Happy Valentine's Day. I love you all.

      THE NEW ALBUM "RELEASE DATE"
POSTED BY COURTNEY
iTunes
I know a lot has been going around about the May 17th "release date" for the new album. I heard about this some time in late January from someone who e-mailed me. The reason I didn't report it to you guys was because I talked with Brian from GreenDay.net, whom confirmed with the band, that this date is bogus. So all I'm saying is, don't get your hopes up. It probably won't be the release date here in the US for sure, because that day falls on a Monday, and everyone knows here albums and movies are released on Tuesdays. If I'm wrong, great, I hope so, the quicker we get a new album. Anyway, I Fought the Law is the #1 downloaded song on iTunes! Thanks guys! I could post the mp3 here, I have it, but I'd rather have GDA support Green Day, if you can buy it for a lousey 99 cents....I mean, how cheap can you be?!

      I FOUGHT THE LAW
POSTED BY COURTNEY
I Fought the Law
Hello everybody. Green Day's verison of "I Fought the Law" from the Pepsi commercial was released today at iTunes. You can download it from there for a measley 99 cents. Good deal, considering it's Green Day. I don't like how I can't play it on Winamp though, only on the iTunes player. But probably in the coming days it'll be on Kazaa anyway. If you didn't pick up your remastered verison of 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, you're crazy. The sound quality is so much better, and I love all the extras. The video clips are not that good of quality though, so I wasn't too impressed with them. And today is exactly 10 years since Dookie was released! Click here to send your happy anniversary message out to the guys if you haven't already.

      AUDIO UPDATE, PEPSI COMMERCIAL LEAK
POSTED BY MATT

Hey. Sorry I've been MIA for a while. Anyway, now I have some news worth posting. First off, check out Green Day.com for a new/old audio update from BJ. It features the interview done by Billie Joe when he was 5. In the intro of Maria, there's a short clip of it, but this is the whole thing. Okay, now onto the good stuff. The Pepsi commercial featuring GD's music, mentioned below, has leaked onto the internet. You can find it at PepsiLaw, blog.yourmaclife.com(works best, just right click Save Target As...), or at Different District. Check it out before everyone else does when the Super Bowl rolls around. Hell, I'll still be watching for the other commercials. Who cares about football? Anyway, that's about it for me. I think I updated Band of the Month before I went missing, so check that out. Until next time..I bid you farewell.

      NEWS!
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Hey guys. Finally we have some Green Day news. We now have at least a little bit of a reason to watch the Superbowl. USA Today reported on Friday that a Pepsi commerical featuring kids who have been sued over downloading music off the Internet. The ad features Green Day covering 1966's Bobby Fuller Four hit, I Fought the Law. Read the entire article here. Fender came out with a Mike Dirnt signature bass guitar. Geek Stink Breath has a new Green Day game called "Hitchin' a Ride", so check that out if you're bored. You can also check out Luke's Green Day Message Bored. And if you're feeling lucky, you can check out Washington D.C.'s 99.1 HFS or Seattle's 107.7 The End for details on how you may be able to win a trip to Los Angeles for Billie's 32nd birthday party. Speaking of contests, don't forget that Lookout Records' contest ends January 31st. And lastly, Dookie's 10 year anniversary is on February 1! Click here to send your happy anniversary message out to the guys.

      UGH.
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Apparently, some stupid asshole who thinks he/she is funny hacked into The Official Green Day Message Board and sent out a hoax e-mail about Green Day splitting up. The key word here is hoax. Do not send me e-mails asking me if Green Day broke up, I will not answer you. It's shit and you know it. In case you didn't get the letter, I'll post it below. Oh and a very special thanks to the asshole who sent the letter out, maybe now your next accomplishment will be to lose the diapers.

Hey Green Day fan,

You may or may not have heard the speculation of Green Day splitting up. Unfortunately, the reports are true. It is unclear to us the exact nature of the split, however, Billie Joe Armstrong has made clear his intentions to delay the press conference until the contract opt-out options are finalized.

Greenday.net has been handed over to Warner Bros and Greenday.com is already owned by them so we are unsure of the future of the Idiot Club and the forum.

We will keep you updated as more news is available.

Alexander Jakob Smith

IT'S A BOY! Today I'm officially an aunt. Alexander Jakob Smith was born today at 6:22 PM. He was 7 pounds and 6 ounces and 20 inches long. I just had to share with the world. I know you don't care, but just pretend because I'm so damn happy. I'll post a picture here when I get one...he's soooo cute. Congrats to my brother Jeremy, and his girlfriend Adrienne.

      BILLIE JOE UPDATES AUDIO
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Check out GreenDay.com, where Billie has left us quite a long audio message. He gives a little bit of interesting background about 39/Smooth, some opinons on politics, and promises that the new album coming out in 2004 will blow us away. The message is about 7 and a half minutes long, so check it out.

      UPDATES
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Hey everyone. I hope everyone had a good new year. No news on Green Day yet....I'm still waiting for the new album! We better get one this year guys, it'll be 4 years this October since Warning was released. In fact, it will be 10 years on February 2, since Dookie was released! Man, that means I've been a Green Day fan for 10 years. How fun. Anyway. I did some updating on the site. Mainly, I fixed some e-mail addresses so they now work (woo hoo)! I also fixed the forms, and added a form to the Didja Know? page (this page was also updated). And I finally did a Fan of the Week. To be honest with you, I forgot about it. I think I lost some of them in the move as well. Oh well. And a new painting was added to the Fan Art. I did all that in addition to sorting through the 6, 297 e-mails in the catch all. Fun. Mighty fun indeed. Oh yeah, I made a new entrance page too. And well, that's about all.

      HI GUYS
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Hey everyone. I'm sorry we haven't been around much lately, but it's sooo busy here with the holidays and my brother's baby is due soon, that I just haven't had time to do much. I would have posted the question for the upcoming Green Day contest (to win Riding in Vans with Boys), but I found out the DVD was delayed by the manufacturer, and I don't want to start the contest until it has been officially released.... I don't want them to screw me like they did with Pogo Paradise. Anyway....does anyone have a picture they'd like to show the rest of the world? Go to GreenDay.com and see how you can get it posted there instead of shitty ole GDA. Rosie sent me an e-mail today and let me know that Basketcase is featured in Q Magazine's "1001 Best Songs Ever". Here's the jist of it.

BEST: Americans pretending to be English
Basketcase
Green Day
What it does: Restores faith in dumb-as-a-stump punk rock in a little under three minutes. Loud, fast, singalong nonsense to put a smile on the stoniest face. And a rare case of an American band singing in a cockney accent. You can blame Paul Weller for that.
Fact: Yes, would-be pop stars, three-chord pop punk really can pay. 1994's Dookie, where Basket Case was first spotted, went on to sell over eight million copies. Not as dumb as they look, then. (HJ)
File with: Come Out And Play by The Offspring; Teenage Kicks by The Undertones.
Get It: Dookie.

Just fuckin' peachy, eh? Once again, thank you Rosie. Let's see. What else. Oh yeah, I did of a review of the Stone Temple Pilots album, Thank You. To read it, click here. Well I must get going. I still have a ton of shit to do. And if I wrap one more damn present I'm going to puke.

Hey everyone! I'm doing some work on the site so I just thought I'd keep everyone updated. Some of the e-mails don't work yet, so direct all e-mail to fashionvictim86@hotmail.com please (Didja Know, ect.). I'm going to have some scans for you later, so keep checking here tonight. Also, as I forgot yesterday Happy 31st Birthday Tre!. I feel so bad, but I think he would understand. Also, we're going to have a contest! Yay! I know you guys are going to have to answer a question (yes, it's going to be hard) about Green Day, but I'm not sure what yet. I'll keep ya posted. BTW, check out the GDA Poll.

      NETWORK NEWS
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Blah. The news is so slow. The only thing new is this. Check out this tidbit from this month's Kerrang Magazine :

It's true that Green Day are part of the Network," a music industry insider told Kerrang!. "I don't know why they're trying to keep the pretence up. When you see and hear them, it's obviously them." The band features frontman Billie Joe Armstrong as 'Fink', whose name is credited on his other side-project Pinhead Gunpowder's new album 'Compulsive Disclosure'. Joining Armstrong are bassist Mike Dirnt as 'Van Gough', drummer Tré Cool as 'The Snoo' and 'Live Freaky, Die Freaky' director John Roecker on keyboards. The identity of the fifth member, 'Captain Underpants' has not yet been disclosed.

Now click here and here for the scans. Thanks GreenDay.net. And hey, if you want to buy tickets to the Network show at the Key Club in Hollywood, CA November 22nd, check out eBay. Thanks goes out to Jenny, Jess, and Sarah for some more GDA banners.

      UPDATES
POSTED BY COURTNEY

The fonts pagewas updated with the "real" verison of the Shenanigans font, thanks to Mike Fireball from Poprocks & Coke. He sent it to me like a month ago, but like I said, I've been slackin'. Sorry Mike. :) Love the website though. Anyway, we also got a new random banner at the top. Hey if you're out there and you're bored feel free to make us a banner. Just please make it to go with the color scheme/size (912 x 193) of the site. You can send it to Courtney. And lastly, Fan of the Week was finally updated. Have fun kids.

      YEAH...WE'VE BEEN SLACKIN'.
POSTED BY COURTNEY

I know. Matt & I have been slackin'. The site is still experiencing bandwidth problems, so I've said it before and I'll say it again, please do not hotlink our files! I'm planning on doing some more updates tomorrow, but I updated Didja Know? today. Also, head on over to vote for the punk rock awards at Punk-Rocks.tk. And, there was a blurb about The Network and Green Day in this week's Entertainment Weekly. Click here to view the article, courtesy of GreenDay.net. Something tells me that when The Network performs at the Key Club in Hollywood on November 22nd, the shit is gonna hit the fan. But hey, that's just my opinon. I hope everyone had an great Halloween weekend, and that no one had to stay in jail too long.
