      WE'RE BACK!
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Yay! We're back! Sorry we've been MIA for awhile, I've notified most of you via the GDA mailing list informing you guys that we didn't know why the site was down. It turns out we exceeded our bandwidth, so the site was suspended. I cannot stress how important is that people don't hotlink our files. It takes up the bandwidth we pay for and basically it fucks us over. Anyway, I hope you all turned to GreenDay.net for your news. I'm not gonna report it here for everything that went on, because you guys probably already know it anyway. :)

      CD LABELS
POSTED BY MATT

Hey. I came across the CD Labels for Money Money 2020. The CD Inlay, labels, cover, back cover, track listing...everything basically printed on the CD. I also, got the CD. It's quite good, a little new wave, but has the Green Day sound. Hopefully it's not the new Green Day album though, I was looking foward to more. Anyway, check the labels and info out here..

      AND THE MYSTERY CONTINUES...
POSTED BY MATT

Alright guys. I'm convinced. The Network revealed their new website. Check it out. To get into the site is a bit tricky. Click the top right corner of the N...sorry for those who I spoiled it for. Anyway, I checked out the site cover to cover...the close up shots of the characters look unmistakenly like the guys of GD. (In order:) Fink - Billie Joe...Van Gough - Mike...The Snoo - Tre. It's blatenly obvious. Now the two other guys, Z and Captain Underpants are rumored to be 2 guys in the hit 80's band, Devo. Oh yeah, also, in the Church section of the site, Tre Cool of Green Day is mentioned. It's too obvious to be a coincidence at this point. I'm sorry for doubting you all that said it was Green Day, and I retract my previous essay on how it's not them..below. Bye for now.

      NETWERK PRESS CONFERENCE FOOTAGE
POSTED BY MATT

Hey. Check out Adeline dot net for the Netwerk Video Press Conference. It's quite humorous but still no real information other than shotty fake accents and some voices. The only 2 people that spoke...didn't sound anything like the guys of GD...and it was complete jibberish. I just caught some mentions of pop punk, and Good Charlotte or something. Still, there are 3 left who have yet to speak...hmm..coincidence?

Hrmmm.....is it me or does he look like someone I know.....

      MY OPINION ON THE NETWORK
POSTED BY MATT

Ah the news is a flyin'. Now we all know what this 'new' band 'The Network' is trying to pull. Is it Green Day? Isn't it? I could be completely wrong, so if this does turn out to be Green Day, you could all shoot me in the face or something. Personally, I don't think it's them. I think it's somewhat of a publicity stunt. I'm not saying that Green Day wasn't involved with this band, I just don't think it's them. 'Supermodel Robots' is one of the only main songs that sounds like Billie Joe. His voice is quite distinct, and the singer even does BJ's "Prrrrrrrrohhhh" thing...like he sometimes does. But, I don't think it's them. There are many similarities, don't get me wrong. And GD.net, Brian Gray, does give hints...I think it's all a joke. It doesn't sound like the Green Day I know and love. It's good, nonetheless, just not as good as Green Day is, and could be. Supermodel Robots is a great song, the rest are not so great. In my opinion, that is. I think they purposly planted little clues to make the press think it's GD, like BJ's face blatenly put on the cover, but if they wanted it to be hidden, they would've done a better job. I think GD had a part in this, but this isn't their new album, nor is this them. Once again I say this is what I'm thinking, for all I know they could be laughing it up. Go figure, we'll just have to wait. There's my thought for the day.

NEW AUDIO, NEW PIX, CONTEST AND NEW ALBUM?
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Check out GreenDay.com from some new audio from Mike and a few new studio pictures. We also got some new merchandise at the Green Day Store. Hrmm...sounds like a new album is coming. There's usually always new merch released when GD puts out a new album. Anyway, there's this band, The Networks, who just released a CD over at Adeline Records. Go there and let the audio on the site load to listen to their track. They sound an awful lot like Green Day. There's no confirmation however that this band is Green Day, or even just Billie Joe, but the Networks are very mysterious....... For those of you who didn't get a copy of the Green Day Tribute Album that was released, Interpunk is having a contest where you can win a copy plus the original DAT copy of Weezer's version of Worry Rock and Skunk Ape Record's other releases. Click here to enter.

SCHOOL OF ROCK REFERENCE, LIVE FREAKY DIE FREAKY NEWS
POSTED BY MATT

Hey. I haven't updated for a while. I saw The School of Rock today. It was really good. Anyway, at the end, the drummer kid is wearing a Green Day shirt. That doesn't really matter, I just need an exuse to update. Oh yeah, also, the Live Freaky Die Freaky DVD will come out on February 15th, 2004. Happy Rosh Hashanana to our Jewish friends out there. Also, don't forget to vote for us for that list thing. Click the banner at the top, if you haven't already. Thanks. Goodbye for now.

      FAN OF THE WEEK
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Hey guys. Just letting you know that Fan of the Week was updated. There were also a few new Green Day buddy icons added to the AOL AIM Downloads page. And does anyone know where I can get some Ataris merchandise besides their official site and Interpunk? I'm looking for a hoodie that they are out of at the official site......if you know of anywhere, e-mail me please.

      A FUTURE GREEN DAY TOUR?
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Green Day, NOFX, Good Charlotte and some other bands have a compliation CD in the works called Rock Against Bush. Quite possibly after the CD drops, they may be heading out on tour. For more info, click here to check out an article at VH1. Please do not e-mail us asking for tour dates. I don't know. Stop asking. Also, click here to view a picture of Billie Joe and Ryan Adams. Ryan Adams? Who the fuck is he? Anyway, all I know is that BJ helped him with a few tracks on his upcoming CD. Click here to check out Ryan's website, and thanks to my good pal Brian from GreenDay.net, because that's who I stole the picture from. :P

      AHHH MAN.
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Hey guys! What's up with everyone? I'm extremely bored right now, so I may do some updates and tweeking around the site....or clean my computer desk. I haven't decided what to do yet. Today, we got our new computer. :) Finally. It's a Dell, and so far I'm very happy with it. I just have to get used to using Windows XP. Right now I'm on my old moniter, which needs 800 x 600 resolution b/c it is very small if you set it to anything else. I just have to wait till my new moniter ships. Anyway, I'm supposed to have school tonight, but because of Hurricane Isabel, school has been cancelled. Joy for me, since I worked hard to get my term paper done by tonight. If anyone is caught in this stupid hurricane, let's just hope the power isn't going to go out. Well I'm off to maybe do some updates. C'mon, we need some Green Day news! Oh and I almost forgot. check out this month's MAD Magazine if you get it. There's a feature called "52 of America's Least Wanted". Guess who's on a card? Yep, Avril Lavigne. There's a cartoon picture of her and it reads "She's a wild punk rebel all the way (at least that's what they tell her to say)". I thought it was funny as hell.

      IN THE MAGAZINES AGAIN....
POSTED BY COURTNEY

As you see to your right, Green Day is in this month's Alternative Press. The article talks about the re-release of 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours and Kerplunk!. Click here to read the article in full size. But that's not all. Here's another snippet from the magazine's Overheard section:

Live Freaky! Die Freaky! director/writer John Roecker just can't say no. Seems every punk who's anyone wants to do a voice in the stop-animation horror flick he's doing with producer and Rancid honcho Tim Armstrong. So, when Good Charlotte's Joel Madden overheard Roecker discussing the film, well, another name was added to the cast of characters. "I was at an after-party for Good Charlotte, and Benji [Madden] and I were discussing his role in the movie," Roecker tells us. "Joel overheard us and wanted to know why he wasn't involved in the project. So I told him, of course, there is a role for him- I lied - and went home and split Benji's character in two so Joel could be in it." Also newly added to the film is Kelly Osborne, who plays the eco-hating Hollywood starlet Sharon (as in Tate, not Osborne), who becomes the victim of the Family. The Family, of course is that of Charles Manson, played by Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong. "The character is a complete bitch," Roecker says of Osbourne's role, "whihc is complete opposite of Kelly. She's such a sweetheart- and a beauty, to boot." Jeordie White (the artist formaly known as Twiggy Ramirez) and Siouxsie Sioux are also new additions to the cast, which alrady features everyone in Rancid and Transplants, Fat Mike [NOFX], Mike Dirnt [Green Day], John Doe [X], Warren Fitzgerald [Vandals] and Josh Freese [Vandals, A Perfect Circle, Stripsearch], Davey Havok [AFI], and just too many more to list.

Remember that article I told you about punk in USA Today? Yes, fucking love me. I typed up the whole goddamn thing and scanned some of it too. You better fucking love me because it took almost two hours. So DO NOT STEAL MY HARD WORK for your website. Please please please credit GDA. It's only fair because I saved your lazy ass two hours of typing. My fingers hurt. Oh yeah, click here to read the article.

      SORRY KIDDIES.....
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Sorry ladies, looks like newly divorced Tre got himself a new girlfriend. Check out this snippet from the On the Scene section of the September 18, 2003 issue of Rolling Stone Magazine:

"Green Day drummer Tre Cool with his new girlfriend, Donnas drummer Donna C., holding hands in the VIP area of Lollapalooza in Irvine, California."

Tre's off the market again, sorry about the broken hearts. Gee, and I wondered why he was at the MTV Video Music Awards....The Donnas were nominiated for Best Group Video (Take it Off). They lost to Coldplay's The Scientist.

HERE'S A LITTLE FYI FOR YA...
POSTED BY COURTNEY
Tre and....Christina Aguilera?!?
Hey guys. That picture to the right is scary, huh? Tre with....Christina Aguilera? Well, I guess it's better than Britney Spears. Yuck. Anyway, yeah, Tre was at the VMAs. On the few bits I watched however, I didn't see him. I did watch Good Charlotte's performance, and what Chris Rock actually said was "Good Charlotte? More like a medicore Green Day." I laughed. Good Charlotte does get a lot of shit for being who they are, but I'm not one of them who gives it. Like I always say, if you don't like them, don't watch or listen. BTW, my lovely co-webmaster Matt, did once like Good Charlotte, because I specifically remember asking him. :P But whatever. You know I luv ya Matt. He's the best webmaster I ever had. :) ANYWAY again, click here to read an article about MTV's 20th Anniversary Party at Yahoo. Green Day is mentioned. And also, did anyone happen to get USA Today on Friday, August 29th? If so, in the Lifestyles section of the paper there is an article on Punk. On the main page of the article, there's a picture of Rancid along with a fairly old picture of Green Day. Just a little FYI for you. Well, I'm off. Everyone have a great Labor Day and enjoy your day off.

      SITE UPDATES,VMAs
POSTED BY MATT

Hey. Nothing great to update but here's somethin'. Check out GreenDay.com for Tre's audio update. Also, on the MTV Video Music Awards tonight, Tre' was seen in the crowd when they did a wide shot of the audience. Also, Green Day was mentioned during the commentary of the Good Charlotte performance, made by Chris Rock. He said that GC was a "Mediocre Green Day." Personally (sorry Courtney), I despise GC, and I think that to even compare the two bands, even say that GC is on the same rank as Green Day, is utterly horrible. Oh well, opinions opinions. Anyway, keep checking back for anything new.

Yeah, it's been pretty boring around here. No major updates or news about the album, but I got some updates for you. Other pages that have been updated The Fan List (not all submissions have been added yet), Rare Green Day Items, and Didja Know?. Two new affiliates have been added as well. Have fun kids. Inside there's an article from back in the day with Green Day, and there's also Welcome to Paradise music. The magazine also features "The History of Punk", as well as articles on bands such as Rancid, The Ramones, AFI, NOFX, and more. Pictures may come soon.

      I GOT IT
POSTED BY MATT

Meh, I wouldn't really consider this 'news,' BUT I was just so excited. I got my A Different Shade Of Green today. It's fucking AWESOME. If you don't have it, get it. Every song is covered so nicely. Oh! And there's a *secret* track at the end. Some dude named Jason's rendition of 'All By Myself' it's good, and slightly funny. I could be really low and illegal and rip the cd and post it on the site, but that's wrong on many levels. Instead, maybe later I'll take pictures of the inlay/CD for ya. Either/or, the CD is awesome. Go buy it. Now.

      ANOTHER "MOVIE" WITH GREEN DAY?
POSTED BY COURTNEY

In this month's (September 2003) issue of Alternative Press magazine, there's a little blurb about an upcoming video documentary called Riding in Vans With Boys. The blurb is on page 30 in the Overheard section, and reads as following:

"This movie is gonna be fucked-up good," says Kut U Up drummer Brendan Raasch of Resting Bird Entertainment's video documentary Riding in Vans With Boys. "Chris Cote (Kut U Up singer/guitarist) gets branded with a pool bridge; Billie Joe Armstrong, Micha Mattson (Kut U Up guitarist), and I swing from a vintage 18th century chandelier and rip it from the ceiling; plus [we] hurt some walls and feelings and other stuff." The chandelier stunt cost the boys a cool $5,000, but they shouldn't be sweating it come premiere night. The poised-to-be-huge movie follows the shenanigans of of the 2002 Pop Disaster Tour with co-headliners Blink-182 and Green Day, along with Jimmy Eat World, Saves the Day, and the lesser-known Kut U Up. Resting Bird is looking at a late-October or early-November release, which should coincide with Blink's next album - not, incidentally, titled Use Your Erection I And II., as some dimwit in the press reported.

So there's some interesting news for you. Also, GDA won a couple of awards at Like a Star (Most Content and Best Fansite). GDA would like to thank them and everyone who voted for us. And last but not least, HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY MATT!

GUITAR WORLD;TRE GOT A NEW DRUMSET!
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Hey guys! I'm back from my vacation. A lot of shit went wrong. :( Like there wasn't a lot of sunny days and we didn't get to the beach. Anyway. While down in Maryland, I picked up a copy of this month's (September 2003) Guitar World. The cover is shown on the right. It has an article called "The History of Pop Punk", which includes pictures/quotes from Green Day (check out what Billie Joe has to say about the new "punk" bands on the scene), Good Charlotte, Sum 41, Bad Religion, and NOFX. The issue also contains a centerfold of an old picture of Billie Joe, with the other side a picture of Benji Madden (Good Charlotte). Check out what's in the current issue here. Also, Tre got a new drumset. Check out Greenday.com for details.

POSTED BY COURTNEY

First of all, let me give props to Matt for making GDA the first site to have the cover of Worry Rock by Weezer. Secondly, head on over to the new GD Fan club, The Green Day All Ages Fan Club. It's about time they got that. Lookout Records plans to release a Pinhead Gunpowered compliation and also remastered Green Day albums (1039 and Kerplunk). For more details, here's a report. And lastly, I updated Fan of the Week till August 3rd. That's because I will be unavailable to update or answer your e-mails from Friday, July 25 (it's my 21st birthday, send me presents :P) till Friday, August 1st. Besides my birthday, I'll also be leaving for Ocean City, Maryland for the week. So everyone have fun the week I'm gone, Matt will be updating.

Please vote for GDA @ Like a Star Awards !

      AHHH!!
POSTED BY MATT

Hey. If you guys didn't love me yet, you soon will. I know A Different Shade of Green isn't coming out for a couple of days but the most anticipated cover on the album, in my opinion, is Weezer's rendition of Worry Rock. Well..ahem..I got it. Yes, that is right, me, to share to the general public. Still, please go out and buy the album...it's sure be great, and this is just basically a sample of what I wanted to hear the most. I figured I would share the wealth. Now, the song is good. The original is better, but this is still cool, Rivers' solumn voice with a quieter acoustic guitar. Check it out for yourself, you owe me. :P. Weezer- Worry Rock. Post your comments in the message/tag board. Happy listening!

POSTED BY COURTNEY

Hey everyone. I just have some site updates for you. First of all, the new Fan of the Week is up. And I'm also doing a Live Mp3 of the Week now. It's going to be posted on the Multimedia page, but you can see what mp3 it is on the right side menu. Also, I updated the Videos page with the Poprocks & Coke video. Someone informed me that the link I was leeching off didn't work anymore. I also updated Fan Art Page 3 and added some new Wallpapers. Plus I added a new section to the Links page called Green Day Fanlistings. I added a few fanlistings that I'm a part of and that I've seen, but if you one, be sure to send it in to us. And the last thing I wanna tell you about is the poll. Here's a the results of the last poll.

Which is the best Green Day side band?

The Frustrators : 456 Votes (51%)
Pinhead Gunpowder : 441 Votes (49%)

Total Votes : 897

The Green Day fans have spoken, The Frustrators just barely made it past Pinhead Gunpowder. The next poll question is Do you think Green Day would have became popular if Dookie was never released? Go to the GDA Poll to vote now. I'll leave you with this message from an e-mail I recently recieved....

"We are called Green Bay and play all Green Day songs at our gigs. We live in a town called Cannock in Staffordshire and we're playing at THE TACKEROO in HEDNESFORD (near Cannock) on Saturday, July 12th & THE PRINCESS CHARLOTTE in LEICESTER on Saturday, August 9th. If anyone does want to book us they can e-mail me at rockindaint@aol.com. Cheers from Daint."

      GREEN DAY--MAD MAGAZINE
POSTED BY MATT

Hey everyone. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Courtney beat me to the audio update yesterday. Anyway, as you all know from Courtney's last post, Green Day appeared in Mad. I, in fact, have a weekly subscription (yet another fact proving I have no life..) so, I took a picture of the page with GD on it. Sorry my scanner is busted, so the best I could do was take a webcam shot. ALSO, Tre has updated his audio message yet AGAIN. Check it out. Later for now.

      NEWS ARTICLES ABOUT TRE'S GIVEAWAY;VH1 TV SHOW;MAD MAGAZINE;TRIBUTE    ALBUM
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Holy shit. This like like the 4th post in a row from me. That's simply because there's some Green Day news. First, check out the articles at Undercover Media and Chart Attack about Tre's giveaway. If you don't know what giveaway I'm talking about, read the post below this one. Now I know I posted about this before, but tonight I actually noticed they had a show. The nice part was I turned on the show right when our song came on. VH1 has a show called Top 100 Songs in the Past 25 Years, and Green Day's Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) is #78 (what do they know, eh?). Anyway, on the show there is a small 3 - 5 minute blurb about the song. It features Billie Joe, Johnny Reznick (the Goo Goo Dolls), and Uncle Kracker talking about what the song meant to them, and also there are clips of the video. Green Day appear as a cartoon in this month's "Hulk" issue of Mad Magazine. So be sure to rush out to your local newstand and buy a copy. And lastly for today, remember that Green Day Tribute album that Skunk Ape Records was putting together a few months ago? Yeah, well they finally have it slated for release on Tuesday, July 22nd. What a nice birthday present for me, huh? :) The album will feature a variety of different Green Day songs being covered, including Weezer doing Worry Rock.       FINALLY...SOME NEW AUDIOS FROM MIKE AND TRE!
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Hi everyone. Check out Mike and Tre's audio messages on GreenDay.com. Mike talks about go karts and his little brother. Tre is giving away the peice of bone removed from his leg during his recent survey. Wanna win it? Write a haiku (a poem that has 3 lines; the first and thrid lines have 5 syllables and the second line has 7 syllables) and post it on the Official Green Day Message Board. Then Tre will judge and choose the winner!

NEW GUESTBOOK;NEW FONTS;FAN OF THE WEEK
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Welcome back Green Day fans. Based on the response I from the GDA Survey, I see most of you like the new layout. That's good, because it was a pain in the ass to go through and alter everything. One question I've had is if we have the rotating banners yet, and the answer is yes we do, I just didn't get to make a lot of them yet. So far there are 2 banners. Anyway. We got a new guestbook, because something was wrong with the old one. It would keep reloading for some reason. Well, for me anyway. So click here to sign our new guestbook. I've also added some cool new fonts, so check out that page. And last, Fan of the Week was updated. Well, it was updated yesterday, but who's countin'? And if you guys have ideas for a new poll question, e-mail me. I'm fresh out of ideas.

      NEW LAYOUT!
POSTED BY COURTNEY

Hey guys. The new layout is finally up! I hope everyone likes it, I like it alot, and I put a lot of work into it. There's some new information on some of the pages, so be sure to check that out. Also if you could, please fill out the GDA Survey, so I get an idea of what everyone thinks of the new layout. Some pages might not be done yet, or there may some missing links, but they will be corrected. In the Green Day world, Good Riddance made #78 on VH1's list of the best songs in the past 25 years. Check out an article on it at Yahoo. Last bit of news, Billie Joe's Adeline Records got a new layout as well, so check it out!
